Monday night’s Haven Twp. meeting began with a public hearing for resident Clyde Lewandoski’s request for a conditional use permit (CUP) to build a 30’ x 48’ personal storage unit on a 20 acre parcel he owns.
Chairman Jeff Schlingmann informed attendees Sherburne Cty has recently begun allowing such structures on parcels without a residence, so it would be a permitted use.
With no input from the public, a motion passed for the board to forward positive comments on to the county.
Road Report
Supervisor Mark Knowles met with the residents who have questions on the proposed 52nd Street road order. He informed the board they aren’t averse to signing over right-of-way, they just want to know where their lot falls in it. A time will be set up for they, the surveyor and Knowles to meet.
Twp. Attorney David Meyers informed the board he had spoken with Jon Bogart of Bogart Pederson concerning the Sherwood West project, who indicated that although he’ll be retiring, he will be available if the project is done within the next year.
Knowles reiterated the board’s policy when doing roadwork is to replace mailboxes with the standard breakaway posts; when the neighborhood meeting is held regarding the project they need to be sure everyone is aware of this.
Knowles requested Meyers ensure they have the resident agreement on file stating the drainage easement wouldn’t be through the resident’s woods; the natural water runway will be utilized instead.
Meyers informed the board his goal was to get the 36th Street temporary easements in place for three years, which won’t take long to complete once the agreement is in place.
The April 14 road tour was cancelled due to snow; Knowles and Jeff Rhodes will reschedule a date in May.
Other Business
Supervisor Kathi Kosloski informed the board the St. Cloud Regional Airport would be doing more work, however, none of it would be affecting township roads. She said they have had a lot of success this winter with their new flights to Mesa, AZ and Punta Gorda, FL.
Dan Walgamott, who is running for 14B state representative, attended the meeting to introduce himself and why he is running. He said he will be a fresh perspective, and wants to bring back government accountability.
Resident Gloria Plombon informed attendees a noxious weed control seminar was being held in St. Cloud that week, and reminded everyone to be aware and on the lookout for noxious weeds, which include palmer amaranth, which is now as close as Todd Cty, and wild parsnip, which contains toxic chemicals that can cause burns and blisters after contact.
Township cleanup day will be May 12 from 8 a.m. to noon. Kosloski told the board the boy scout troop had been lined up to help, the master gardeners would be coming back to recycle gardening supplies, and bikes would be collected for the Yellow Bike Project.
The sheriff reported 104 calls for service for March, including 32 traffic, 21 security checks, five medical, two warrant arrests, one shooting complaint and one possible mail tampering.
The next Haven Twp. meeting will be May 21 at 7 p.m.
