Grandma Nancy, a Foster Grandparent, visited  Becker Primary School Monday and worked with students who needed extra assistance.

 

While students benefit greatly from the one-on-one or small group attention they receive, they’re not the only ones who prosper from the volunteers’ service. The teachers appreciate having the added help. 

 

One teacher summed it up like this, “I gain greatly from the program; it offers me another adult in the classroom to work with the students on any activity that I ask. It allows for a student to work on an assignment or read one-on-one with a grandma (grandpa) and I have a tremendous amount of confidence in our grandmas (grandpas)!” 

 

The Foster Grandparent volunteers also gain so much during their service. The sense of joy and pride they feel watching their students succeed is something only the Foster Grandparent program can provide.
