“Christmas, every year tis the same thing”.  

 

This is the opening line from the musical presentation of the ‘Gospel According to Scrooge’ being performed by Becker Evangelical Free Church Sun., Dec. 23.  The times for the performances are 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and will be performed at the small Becker High School auditorium.  

 

Over 70 individuals have devoted their time and energy since the beginning of October to produce this play which is based in part on the classic Charles Dickens novel ‘A Christmas Carol’.  This musical was first performed by the Jesus People Church over 25 years ago in downtown Minneapolis.  The play was written by James P. Schumacher with music by John Worre and Tom Elie.

 

The story revolves around Scrooge who, since his childhood, has become very bitter and hurt due to his life experiences.  He is visited on Christmas Eve by three ‘Angels’ who give him a different perspective and through these visits, introduces him to the One who can truly change his life.
