Golf Course Advisory Committee Plans Near

The Becker City Council Tuesday evening came close to authorizing the formulation of a Pebble Creek Golf Course advisory committee.

Council golf course committe chairman Adam Oliver reported he did not have all the details document regarding formatting of the advisory committee.

So, it will be reviewed and acted upon at the council’s next meeting.

The golf course advisory committee will take on a status like all city committees after it is formed - but will not report to the city council thereafter, he said.

Their task is to do a five-year business plan to  breathe some fire into Pebble Creek operations fortunes, or at least acknowledge if it loses money, it is still a worthwhile feature for the city.

The four conditions for the advisory committee would be as follows:

1. A written business plan would be designed by the advisory board and Director of Golf Troy Malo;

2. Malo would present the written business plan to the council;

3. The council would act on the business plan;

4. That would be followed by the implementation of the plan or exploring of other options, to possibly include bringing in an outside management company, renting out the place or its outright sale.

The advisory committee would be comprised of six persons, including Malo. The remaining members would be Becker residents or business persons from within the community.

The council will be advertising in the future to call for applications to the advisory committee.
