GoFundMe page set up for Ruger

Ruger, a beloved therapy dog at Big Lake Independence Elementary, has brought comfort and joy to countless students and staff through his calming presence and unwavering support. Now, after suffering painful injuries to both hind legs, Ruger’s parents are seeking the community’s support for his surgery and extensive rehabilitation.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to fray the costs.

Ruger recently suffered a torn Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) in both of his hind legs, a painful injury that requires extensive medical treatment and surgery. He is currently unable to continue his work at the school. Alex and Alison Blake, Ruger’s parents, are now in need of the community’s help so he can get back to bringing smiles to local students.

“Ruger is more than just a therapy dog. He is a source of hope, love, and compassion to all those who meet him. His presence at Big Lake Independence Elementary has had a profound impact, helping students build confidence, manage anxiety, and feel safe in their school environment. The bond he shares with the children, teachers, and staff is truly special, and we want to ensure that Ruger can continue to provide that support for many years to come,” the GoFundMe reads.
