“CUPCAKE WARS” was part of Thursday’s Girl Scout event where girls brought their own cupcake designs to be judges for best looking, best tasting and most creative.

Girl Scouts Hold First Event Of The Year

The Girl Scouts of Becker held their annual Investiture Event at Kolbinger Park last Thursday.

Investiture is held at the beginning of the Girl Scouts year for new members to be welcomed and inducted to the organization and for returning members to re-dedicate themselves to the Girl Scout promise and law.

Each year, a different troop chooses and plans the event.  This year, Troops 155 and 983 decided to hold a Birthday Party Theme in honor of Girl Scout Founder, Juliette Gordon Low. Her birthday occurred this week on Halloween.

The members conducted a flag and candle ceremony for dedication, recited the Girl Scout law and then had some fun!

There was a gift exchange game, learning how to say “Happy Birthday” in different languages around the world, and cupcake wars where girls brought their own cupcake design to be judged for best looking, best tasting and most creative.

Local merchant Norm’s Farm Market helped the festivities by donating a small pumpkin for each girl.

Becker’s Girl Scouts just wrapped up the fall candy sales and are excited to continue the year and work toward earning badges, learning new skills, and — of course — selling cookies this winter.
