In the last week, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous complaints about fish houses being broken into on Briggs Lake and Julia Lake, according to Sheriff Joel Brott.
The suspect or suspects entered the houses by prying open door latches, pushing in screen windows or disabling locks.
It’s believed that the break-ins happened sometime overnight Jan. 16 through early Jan. 18. Items taken include depth finders, a camera, heaters, a radio, rod-and-reel combos and augers.
Several other anglers reported that their fish houses were broken into but that nothing appeared to have been taken.
Sheriff Brott encourages anglers to not leave valuable equipment in fish houses and to report any break-ins or suspicious activity on the lakes.
