The winners in the annual Fire Safety Week coloring contest at the Becker Primary School got a chance to ride home in style last week, as Becker Firefighter Ron Kortz chauffeured two groups of students home in a BFD fire engine last Thursday and Friday.
Four winners were chosen from kindergarten, first grade and second grade, respectively, with two groups of six getting to ride in the brand new fire truck. Kortz also served as the judge for the coloring contest entries, which he said required “careful consideration and great difficulty” in arriving at the individual winners.
The winners by grade were: Lydia Gay, Ellie Graham, August “Gus” Lewis and Dalton Weisz, (kindergarten); Thomas Koop, Ava Kloss, Owen Skreen and Mikayla Listul, (first grade), and Emily Huffmann, Gunnar Hanson, Denlan Harmoning and Morgan Riedel, (second grade).
