The Becker Fire Dept. was dispatched to Xcel Energy’s Sherco plant in Becker Thursday morning after receiving a call on a reported fire.

 

Plant Director Ron Brevig reportedly called 911 after he noticed some smoldering coal near a coal shed. Smoldering coal can certainly burn so the firefighters were on hand to douse it to cool it down.

 

It was reported that Big Lake, Monticello, Elk River, Clear Lake and Clearwater Fire Depts. also responded to the call to supply manpower throughout the day. No damages or injuries were reported in the incident.
