Final Stages Of Street Project Coming Soon

Work on Clearwater’s North Area Street Improvement Project should begin again soon.

Monday, the City of Clearwater reviewed a letter from Engineer Joseph Pelawa from Bolton & Menk indicating the contractor will be working on the punch list items shortly.

Pelawa said RL Larson is coordinating the schedule with the subcontractors for punch list items and replacing surmountable curb driveways with knock-down driveways.

Pelawa said the response from the survey from homeowners who want their driveways changed was down to 27. He said he has informed the contactor that property owners need at least two days notice to prepare for the work.
Once the punch list items and driveways are completed, the final lift of bituminous can be done on the streets.

Skate Equipment
The council voted to put the city’s skate park equipment up for bid.

Conner Woodman said the skate half-pipe ramp was going to waste and it hasn’t been set up on the hockey rink at Lions’ Park during the summer as in previous years.

Administrator Kevin Kress said there wasn’t any intention of using it again, either at Lions’ Park or any other park, so having a bid for the ramp would benefit the city and anyone who purchased it.
“Is there going to be any potential liability on the city’s part,” asked Councilman Chris Ritzer.

“There shouldn’t be,” said Kress. “I’ll look into that. Basically, it’s as-is where-is.”

Members of the council agreed it was better to do the same with all the skate park equipment.
