Final Choir Performance Hits Broadway

The Becker High School Choir held their 14th annual spring choir show at the PAC Monday night under the direction of Gretchen Bordson.
 
It was entitled, The Best of Broadway and featured Bordson on keyboards and Craig Vogl on drums. They held two shows at 5:30 and 8 p.m.
 
The show began with a voiceover from Seth Parks who presented the hosts, William Schendel, Shalyn Quernemoen and Sophie Diaz. The trio sang solos of The Greatest Show and were joined on stage by Rachel Eisenreich, Payton Bernstrom, Grace Jacobson, Brendan Potter, Miranda O’Brien and Nikki O’Brien.
 
Presenters Raina Schmidt and Elizabeth Paul introduced the classics of There’s No Business Like Show Business and Oh What a Beautiful Morning where Anna Pancoast sang solo. That was followed by Give My Regards to Broadway and Do-Re-Mi with a solo by Grace Schendel.
 
Next up was ensemble pieces of Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better, I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair and Put On A Happy Face, sung by Brooke Hendrickson, Gretchen Graftaas, Ellie Christensen, Kyla Henkemeyer, Faith Potter, Annabelle Schmidt, Levi Roske and Katelynn Fisher. They finished that number with They Call the Wind Maria, Before the Parade Passes By, 76 Trombones and Consider Yourself.
 
Presenters Skylar Kipka and Carly Leitold introduced the Broadway Divas number featuring solos of It’s a Hard Knock Life by Hannah Klapak, Lauren Baloun, Nyah Kayser, Allison Sanderson, Cammie Varney and Tori Jundt. All That Jazz and Matchmaker were performed by Belinda Edling, Dani Cook and Cassidy Fossum. Welcome to the 60’s featured solos by Samantha Moonen, Amber Vogl and Samantha Pounds. Lane Roske soloed on The New Kid In Town and Beauty School Dropout and Hannah Bengtson crooned Hopelessly Devoted To You.
 
Popular was sang by Grace Klapak and Megan Nelson and 9 to 5 was performed by Aria Webster and Kaelyn Lombard.
 
Presenters for the Groundbreakers of Broadway number were Ethan Wilson and Cole Simkins.
 
Masquerade featured an acappella group and The Phantom of the Opera had Abigail Sarazin and Andrew Reed giving strong performances. Music of the Night featured a solo by Christian Hanowski and Send in the Clowns was highlighted by Jennifer Vorobyev. Memory had a solo by Tatum Storkamp and Maddie Janssen sang Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord. The number was ended with solos by Nathaniel Hed and Carter Aanenson singing, Do You Hear the People Sing?
 
Grace Wraspir and Emma Kolbinger presented the Men of Broadway next.
 
Seize the Day featured a solo by Ethan Klinker surrounded by Jacob Popp, David Myres and Brady Soderquist. Any Dream Will Do was performed by Evan Schafer. Song of the King was sung by Bryce Boser, dressed as Elvis Presley. Greased Lightning featured Rhiley Larson singing the intro then Ladies’ Choice was sung by Danny Solsvig as dancers William Schendel, Grace Jacobson, Sydney Bordson, Jarrett Aumock, Bria Amundson and Jack Belde shook their hops and waved their arms. Once In Love With Amy and Brotherhood of Man were sung by Rhiley Larson.
 
Presenters Cammie Varney and Nyah Kayser introduced Broadway In Love with Izzy Swanson and an acappella group singing Goodnight My Someone. I’m Not That Girl was sung by Haley Schwintek and Abbie Halvorson and A Million Dreams was done by Mary Goenner and Cole Cook. Emma Tweten and Brendan Potter performed City of Stars while Get Me To Church On Time and Summer Nights were sung by Jarrett Aumock, Sydney Bordson and ensemble.
 
Grace Jacobson, Ian Kimmerle and the chamber choir closed out the number by singing the Elephant Love Medley.
 
R. Stiner and Grace Soderquist presented Showstoppers with Samantha Pounds belting out Don’t Rain on My Parade. Oklahoma and Ease on Down the Road were performed by Brynn O’Connor, Megan Kardell, Lexi Drehmel and Kylie Applen. Dylan Materu sang Aquarius One with dancers Allison Schmidt, Melody Swanson, Izzy Swanson, Allison Schugel and Allie Gorman around him.
 
Larissa Tollefson sang Defying Gravity with Elizabeth Moeller singing Mamma Mia and Dancing Queen.
 
The Finale featured the acappella group singing For Good. Melody Swanson and the 2018 senior choir class belted out So Long, Farewell. Seasons of Love was sung by Allison Hendrickson and You Will Be Found was handled by Macy Eigen, Lexi Gunderson, Angelina Scheele and Raylee Merritt.
 
Solos of the song 21 Guns were done by Ella Nettestad, Nataya Houle, Jake Smith and Nathan Bachman. My Shot featured Grace Jacobson and Blake Sandbo and the show concluded with the entire BHS choir singing You Can’t Stop the Beat.
