The first-ever commencement ceremony for Clearview Elementary fifth graders was held Wednesday, as the school won’t be offering sixth grade next year.
Principal Sheri Rutar welcomed the audience, and then introduced the three fifth grade teachers, Joy Palmquist, Andrea Coulter and Profesora Maria.
Two students from each class got up and shared their class reflections with the crowd, and spoke about things such as the talent show, Gamelan, USAT, Book Buddies, friends and teachers.
“I would like to thank all the staff and all the teachers,” said Teagan G. “Good luck to all the fifth graders who are graduating today and thank you to all the family members who helped along the way.”
The diplomas were presented by the teachers, after which the fifth graders sang “I Can Be” and a slideshow of their school memories compiled by Maria Hennes was shown.
After the recessional there was a reception for the students and their families.
