Farmer’s Market Finding Success At New Location

After moving their location from the BCC to the parking lot of Becker Furniture World this year, a lot is expected from the Becker Farmer’s Market. And after last Friday’s opening day, organizer Jean Johnson couldn’t be more happy.

“I would have to say the opening was a big success,” she said.  “We had a new location, new vendors, new signs, new customers. What more could we have asked for?”

Johnson said Phil Knutson from Becker Furniture World stopped by as well as Mayor Kleis, several city staffers and customers new and old.

This upcoming week, Dave Hunz from Hunz Farms will join the market and Norm's Farm Market will return as well — but then Norm's will not be back until July 8.

Sandy Dianoski will return July 8 as well and  Nita (Little Red Shed) and Beth (Green) will be present every week from this Friday throughout the rest of the Farmer’s Market season.

Trash to Treasure will be present every other week beginning June 3.  Linda Ellis from Ellis Bakery is expected to be part of the market soon, though Johnson is not sure what her final schedule is going to be.

“There have been a few others that have expressed interest, but no confirmations to the city staff yet,” Johnson says. “We are looking forward to another great day at the Becker Farmers Market this Friday!”

The market will run every Friday through the months of May, June, July, August and September and end the Friday of Oct. 14 in the parking lot of Becker Furniture World along Hwy. 10. The times will be from 3-6 p.m.
