Faith In Action’s 12th Annual Rake The Town & Gather Round Event

As summer winds down at Faith in Action we’re already busy preparing for our favorite fall event-- and we want to take this opportunity to invite you to partner with us for this fun day! Currently we are seeking groups of volunteers to participate in another heartwarming day of service.

Rake the Town is truly a relational event! It’s so much more than raking! We get the chance to connect with homeowners in need of help in our communities, and to be the hands and feet, serving the disabled, elderly, veterans and those in need of being “loved on”.  It is a wonderful day of connection and we are excited to have you on “Team F.I.A.” for the day!

Rake the Town
This year’s event will be held Fri. Oct 30, Sat.  Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. The  date and time frame are completely up to you and your groups! Groups can start raking at whatever time works best for them; most usually start in the morning. Some work all day, while others choose to work in three or four hour blocks. The time frame is up to your group’s needs. We ask that groups be open to working in other communities, but that may not be necessary. Most groups travel no further than 10 miles from their home community. Groups would need to provide trucks, trailers; rakes, tarps and gloves-- leaf blowers are optional (but valuable!) We ask the homeowner provide lawn bags if needed. We will also provide information on the local composite sites.

The Gather Round Nov 1
The other side of this great day is called the “Gather ‘Round.” This is a free meal that is prepared and served by a special group of volunteers just for you and homeowners! The meal begins around 11am for groups that start raking early, and is served all day until the last groups come through. Our vision for this meal has always been fellowship! We ask our volunteers to invite the homeowners to join them for a meal and work towards building relationships/friendships. Many of our volunteers have been able to go back to the same homes year after year, with the homeowners looking forward to that time each fall where they connect again. This year’s Gather Round sites will be located at Grace Lutheran Church in Becker, Resurrection Lutheran Church in Monticello and The United Methodist Church in Elk River.

Please share this information with your youth, friends, family, neighbors and co-workers everybody is welcome to participate.
