The Sherburne County Fairgrounds will be getting a facelift this year.
Last week, Steve Beckers from the Sherburne County Agricultural Society (Ag Society) told members of the county board they received a $10,638.30 grant from the MN Dept. of Agriculture to help pay part of the cost for a new animal shelter.
The 80’ x 40’ x 14’ building will be constructed just north of a current horse/animal shelter near the south end of the fairgrounds, just east of the horse arena.
Beckers said the total cost of the building is estimated at $14,000. A portion of the remaining funds will paid for through the use of budget dollars. The Sherburne County Fair Board is currently working with local non-profit groups to try to reduce the costs.
The Ag Society is also planning to build a new Boy Scout food booth at an estimated cost of $9,362.49. The Elk River Lions Club is financing the project.
Beckers said he will bring more detailed project information before the board for approval at the April 5 meeting.
