Late last week on Facebook, a posting of a book with a post-it note sent furor amongst parents, reaching fired up patriots all across America by the weekend.
The photo showed Donald Trumps’ “The Art of the Deal” book on a desk with a bookmark in it. On the sleeve of the cover, a hand-written post-it note had the words, “Trump’s book of lies & other nonsense”. The caption for the photo read, “My boy left the classroom for a minute. When he got back, the teacher put this (post-it) on his book. Becker High School in Minnesota. The same school that teaches Islam is a religion of peace. Time to home school.”
By Friday, the Citizen-Tribune was fielding phone calls from residents asking if it would be covering this story. By Friday evening, this reporter had asked School Board Chairman Aaron Jurek and Supt. Stephen Malone if they had heard of the posting and they responded with a “yes”.
“We don’t know the source of the posting or who it involved but we do know for sure that no school district employee or teacher was responsible for the note,” said Jurek.
Monday, the school issued a public memo explaining to the community that no teacher or school employee was responsible for the note.
No other information has been made available to the Citizen-Tribune as to whether the posting was real or fabricated.
