Emmer Makes Stop At Pebble Creek Saturday

In advance of Tuesday’s caucuses, U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer visited Pebble Creek Golf Course Saturday afternoon to give a pep talk and push for the GOP candidacy.

Emmer arrived precisely at noon to a small throng of supporters, who were treated to an update of Emmer’s political activity, a plea for people to get involved as delegates and an open floor to field questions from his constituents.

Approximately 15 people were onhand including Sen. Dave Brown and Rick Hendrickson from the Becker City Council.

Emmer encouraged the voters by saying, “this country is slowly turning in the direction you and I hope it does.” He said he is urging all Minnesotans to get involved in the political process and participate in the 2016 Precinct Caucuses Tuesday.

“I am asking for your support to continue to serve you and the entire Sixth Congressional District as your representative,” he said.

He pointed out that caucuses are a great place to meet up with like-minded people who have concerns and issues and if people don’t show up, they really have no right to complain when things don’t go their way.

“If you're not part of the process and willing to be part of the solution, then what are you complaining about? he asked. “If you don't like what's happening in government then you need to show up.”

Emmer fielded some questions from the crowd — some concerned about the fact he was part of the re-election of John Boehner as Speaker of the House (before he resigned in 2015).

“He was going to win, that’s why I voted for him,” he said.

He explained the reasoning as, “a vote against Boehner in that situation is a vote against a whole lot of other things.”

“No opposition to the current speaker came forward, nor were any alternatives offered. I was never approached or contacted by any new contender asking for my support or sharing their plan and why they believed they should receive my vote.”

Emmer also talked to constituents about the “power of the purse” principle he hopes to have return to congress. He also talked about the President’s abuse of power by taking executive order on issues like cybersecurity, gun control and citizenship.

“We need to resurrect the constitution we lost to previous politicians,” he said.

“I’m asking for your commitment to go to caucus for me on March 1,” he said. “Minnesota's caucus process is an excellent chance for you to have your voice heard on a number of issues that are important to us all and I need your support to keep fighting for a common-sense, conservative agenda in Congress.”
