Two Big Lake-area men face felony drug charges after an investigation by the Sherburne County Drug Task Force led to the seizure of nearly a pound of heroin, according to Sheriff Joel Brott.
The heroin was seized June 26 when task force members searched a property in the 19000 block of Co. Rd. 43 in Big Lake Township. Two men who were at the property were arrested.
Steven Nelson Sandberg, 29, ran from investigators and was detained after he fell in a field. Jeremy Chad Terwisscha, 45, was arrested without incident.
Investigators searched the property and found 15 ounces of heroin in a shed. Also in that shed were two handguns that investigators believe belonged to Sandberg, who is prohibited from possessing firearms because of previous criminal convictions.
Sandberg and Terwisscha each were charged with a first-degree drug possession charge. Sandberg was charged with illegally possessing a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence.
