Wondered about Dork lately?
After several unsuccessful rallies from family members, friends and even strangers, Dork the Emu continued to elude captors and seems to be enjoying its new-found freedom in the backyards, forests and roads of the Becker area.
At times, people have had to stop their vehicles on less-traveled roads to watch in amazement as Dork casually trots. Others have come across him in their backyards and quickly issued an update on social media sites to alert those interested in still tracking him down.
Just this week, Stephanie-Pittman Loidolt said she “sat and watched Dork in a field by Carefree Country Club) for quite a long time today,” she said. “He was eating a lot of leaves and grass. I threw him some rice cakes, but he didn't want anything to do with the rice cakes.”
Loidolt said she talked to his owner for quite a long time and he told her, “it's going to take a lot for us to catch Mr. Dork.”
Others have seen Dork at Co. Rds. 81 and 73 and also along 185th Ave. South Many have commented that the community of Big Lake should be forewarned since that seems to be the direction Dork is heading with the latest sightings. A recent posting to the Big Lake Pets Forum of MN. asked the following question, “Is someone missing their emu? My niece was just now driving on 185th Ave. by Co. Rd. 73 in Big Lake.”
It seems people are both concerned and amused by the Dork sightings and the fact he has no permanent home at the time.
The Dork saga continues.
