Molly Loven knows how difficult and stressful it can be for animal parents to transfer their little loved ones from home, to car, to groomer, back to car, back to home.
So she decided to augment her home business to business on wheels.
Loven, 49, expanded her fruitful grooming business to mobile just four months ago and her services are catching on.
“Sometimes, the process of getting one’s pet groomed can be demanding especially for the pet who typically doesn’t like to be crated, driven around in cars and dropped off with strangers to have their fur clipped and nails trimmed,” Loven said. “Now they can just carry their pet to my trailer outside their home place or work, making the process much simpler and gentler.”
Loven — a certified veterinary technician — has been running her grooming business for over 20 years at her home in Clear Lake and does all the work herself.
“I think it’s important for the pet and the owner to see a familiar face each time they need a service,” she said. “It calms them and it helps me to be familiar with the pet, too.”
Loven loves her job and her passion for animals is evident from the first meeting between pet, owner and groomer. She says her love of animals pours out of her from the first moment she meets the animal to the first and last snips of her scissors, shavers and clippers.
“Trust is important and I make sure I create a comfortable setting for the pet and show love and trust to them,’ she said. “I work hard to prove to them I’m not out to hurt them.”
Another benefit of the mobile grooming center is it is a one-on-one situation with no other dogs or animals on-board and no kennels.
Loven’s business includes grooming for all breeds of dogs and cats. She’s done a few exotic animals, but those are few and far between.
“Each breed of dog or cat will have different costs associated with it,” she said. “My mobile service is a little more expensive, meaning my clients are paying for the convenience of on-site service and the one-on-one attention.”
The minimum rate for grooming at her shop is $50 while the minimum for mobile is around $80. Loven works from the trailer and her shop Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Her range of service is 15 miles from her home, which includes Becker, Clear Lake, Santiago, Foley, So. St. Cloud, Palmer and Duelm.
Molly is married (Paul Jr.) and they have three adult children in Graham (24), Judea (21) and Kay (20). The Loven family also has three dogs (Hans, Sven and Hope) and one cat (Lily).
They have a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/DoggiesInStyle) and gain business mostly by word of mouth. Loven’s logo, featuring a dog in a pail with a yellow duckie nearby that was made as a tribute to her mother, Heidi Bachler, who passed away in 2018.

Molly is a graduate of Monticello High School and attended tech college to become a vet technician. She has worked in the emergency pet hospital in Golden Valley and offers her services one day a week at the Monticello Pet Hospital.
“I feel like I learn something new every day,” she said. “It’s easy for me to go to people’s houses and places of work and get to know the dogs on their level.”
