Becker and Clear Lake fire departments responded to a house fire call last Sunday to a home located on Arbor Blvd. in Becker.
When firefighters arrived, the back deck of the house was engulfed in flames and firefighters acted quickly. Within minutes, the fire was extinguished while no injuries to firefighters or family members were sustained.
Firefighters immediately proceeded to inspect the rest of the home and noticed flames had made their way up the gabels and into the attic and firefighters extinguished that threat also.
The extent of the damage to the structure was to the deck, siding and exterior of the home while slight water damage was the only harm to the interior.
“The crew did a great job knocking down that fire quickly and preserving the homeowner’s property,” said Assistant Fire Chief Jim Kampa.
The homeowner (male) was home alone (besides cat) at the time of the fire and was the one who called for help. The fire investigation concluded earlier this week, determining the fire was accidental.
The Becker and Clear Lake FD’s had the fire situation under control in less than an hour, Kampa said.
