The school year is almost over, and that means kids will be looking for fun things to do during their summer vacation.
The Sherburne County Extension office has lots of fun activities in June that also provide a learning experience.
The first event is the Cloverbud Explorers Science Day Camp, where kids from grades K-2 will get hands-on experience creating and designing projects. The camp, which takes place at the Sherburne County Fairgrounds June 19 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., teaches kids how science works in everyday life.
The older kids have a chance to experience science, too. On June 21 from 8 a.m until 4 p.m. at the fairgrounds, kids from grades 3 and up will learn about chemical reactions, drones, engineering and robotics at the Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Day Camp.
The second cloverbud (K-2) experience takes place June 26 at the fairgrounds during the Explore & Create Day Camp. It’s a day filled with creativity, including shop, crafts, fine arts and food & nutrition.
The fourth event, Creative Arts Day Camp for grades 3 and up, takes place June 28 at the fairgrounds. Projects include drawing, painting, leatherworking and more. Kids will learn about the creative process and complete projects they can take home.
All programs are open to 4-H and non 4-H members, and kids don’t have to live in Sherburne County to participate. Registration is due one week prior to each day camp.
