Dan Whitcomb of Princeton has announced he is running for state senator in senate district 15, which includes all of Mille Lacs county and areas in Sherburne, Benton, Kanabec, Morrison, and Wright counties.
He will be seeking the Republican Party endorsement to replace the seat presently held by Republican Sen. Dave Brown, of Becker, who is not seeking reelection, after 4 years.
Like our forefathers, I believe “Life” should be protected, (born and unborn). I believe in “Liberty” (limited government regulation, rights to privacy, and taxes only to support the necessary functions of government), I believe in the "Pursuit of Happiness", our right to express our religious beliefs and family values publicly, individual property rights, rights to educate our children with a broad fundamental education, not just to a list of common core standards.
“When elected, I will support conservative and common sense principle approaches to government policies and taxes that support a republic not socialism,” states Whitcomb.
Whitcomb, a Navy veteran, owns and operates J.Q Fruit Farm, a family century-old farm. He has held local positions, such as mayor of Zimmerman, Princeton School Board Director and Mille Lacs County Commissioner. Serving in these local elected positions, he has fought for cutting taxes, cutting government spending, and fought against bigger government. Whitcomb substitute teaches at local schools, has been a firearm safety instructor for over 32 years and has helped organize and manage the Princeton and Zimmerman farmers markets as President of Princeton Zimmerman Farmers Market Association.
Andrew Matthews of Milaca has also announced plans to run for the Dist. 15 Rebulican senate seat.
