The Clearwater City Council Monday held its first meeting of 2018.
As part of the organizational agenda, the council passed a resolution setting the annual appointments for 2018.
Acting mayor, in the event the mayor is not present at a meeting, is Councilman Kris Crandall.
Mayor Pete Edmonson is the media contact.
Fire relief ex-officio members are Edmonson, Deputy Clerk Deb Petty and Fire Chief Ryan Pridgeon.
Edmonson, Crandall and Petty are authorized card/check signers.
Council Member Andrea Lawrence is the liaison to the park commission.
Councilman Rollie Lange will serve as liaison on the planning & zoning commission.
Mayor Edmonson and Councilman Richard Petty will serve on the sewer authority.
The official newspaper for public notices is the Citizen-Tribune and the physical site for public notices is Clearwater City Hall.
Official depositories for the city are Lake Central Bank, American Heritage Bank, MidCountry Bank, Lake Central Investments, Multi-Bank Securities, US Bank and 4M Fund.
Fee Increases
The council approved an ordinance amending the city’s fee schedule to include a two percent increase in water and sewer charges they approved in December.
The water base fee increases from $5 to $5.10 per month. The $1.30 flow charge increases to $1.33 and from $1.80 to $1.83 per 1,000 gallons over 9,999 gallons.
The sewer base fee increases from $28.65 to $29.22 per month. Residental monthly flow charges increase from $9.50 per 1,000 gallons to $9.70. Commercial and industrial flow charges increase from $13.52 to $13.80 per 1,000 gallons.
The council approved a proposed contract by Administrator Kevin Kress for salary he would receive for duties performed for the Clearwater-Clear Lake sewer authority.
Kress estimated a salary of $15,263.99 for approximately 300 hours of work in 2018.
The agreement was scheduled to be reviewed by the sewer authority Thursday.
Other Business
In other action the council:
• Accepted a donation of $6,000 from the Clearwater Lions to be used by the Clearwater Fire Dept. for new equipment;
• Accepted a donation of $2,500 from the Clearwater American Legion Club to be used by the Clearwater Fire Dept. for new equipment;
• Approved a pay equity report showing salary ranges for each city employee. It will be submitted to the state as required;
• Approved an amendment to the sewer authority joint powers agreement requiring compensation for each of its board members at an amount to be determined each January.
