During their quarterly meeting Thursday, members of the Clear Valley Business Connections (CVBC) organization discussed the upcoming Explore Clearwater/Clear Lake Business Expo.
The expo will be on May 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Clearwater Legion. Traffic from their Sunday breakfast helps bring in visitors and vice versa. Set up will begin at 9 a.m.
Secretary Jenny Massmann reported there are more businesses signed up this year. A sign announcing the expo is in place in front of Coborn’s, a number of businesses with electronic signs have added the announcement, the event is on the organization’s Facebook page, and an advertisement was placed in the Citizen-Tribune.
Pre-planning for table layout will be taking place May 4.
Community Guide
Carol Hanson was introduced as the new Clearwater-Tribune contact person for advertising and support for CVBC. She is taking over for Susan Nagorski, who recently retired from the newspaper.
Hanson informed the group plans are underway for the upcoming Clearwater/Clear Lake Community Guide, which is expected to once again be 48 pages. Information is being updated from last year, so businesses and groups are encouraged to forward any changes.
Deadline for submission to the guide will be April 30, it will be ready for distribution around Memorial Day. The publication will again be distributed to all Clearwater and Clear Lake homes and 600 will be available for public offices and additional distribution.
President Lori Johnson reminded attendees member dues needed to be paid that day in order for a business to be listed in the CVBC ad.
City Updates
Clearwater is reinstating business licenses for all businesses within the city; the fee will be $30.
Parks in Clearwater are getting makeovers, including Sportsman’s Park and Eldorado Park, in which two basketball courts will be added.
Clear Lake Mayor Tim Goenner told the group a liquor store is moving into the old bank building. Clear Lake Twp. has sold the town hall and will be meeting at city hall until their new township hall is built at Clear Lake Twp. Park.
Other Business
Pete Edmonson gave an update on Heritage Days. They had intended for it to be held only on Saturday this year, but due to a number of events planned by organizations like the Clearwater Legion it was decided to change it back to Friday and Saturday again.
The next Heritage Days committee meeting will be May 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the back of the Clearwater Legion. Anyone interested in helping out is invited to attend.
Johnson encouraged the group to reach out and extend an invitation to other business people to attend a meeting, as the CVBC is always looking for new members.
The next CVBC meeting will be July 11, location to be announced.
