Crash on I-94 leaves 62-year-old man dead

A 62-year-old Maple Grove man died as a result of a two-vehicle car accident in St. Michael Tuesday afternoon.

Dean Patrick Johnson, 62, was driving his 2000 Sterling Straight Truck (semi) westbound in the right lane of I-94 near St. Michael at around 1 p.m. when another vehicle — a 2015 Chervolet Traverse driven by 37-year-old Christina Marlo Dayou of Fargo — was heading in the same direction in the same lane. Johnson’s vehicle rear-ended Dayous, then struck a barrier off ramp to 241 and rolled on its right side.

Johnson, who was not wearing a wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Dayou was uninjured.

Alcohol was not involved in the accident.

Agencies assisting at ther scene were Wright County Deputy, Allina Ambulance, St. Michael Fire, Minnesota DOT and Burdas Towing.
