COVID-19 testing clinic opens in Becker

Jessica Treptau, a nurse from the Becker area, has started her own COVID-19 testing company, COVID Quick Results.

The facility is located just west of Country Lumber on Bank St. in Becker, next to Schmidt’s Signs. Treptau takes appointments in five-minute intervals, and results are available in 15 minutes. Appointments can be scheduled online.

Starting the Company

Treptau decided to start her business after being frustrated with the COVID-19 testing options in the area. She said that she has three girls in school, and when one of them developed a runny nose, she was told her daughter would not be allowed to go back to school unless she tested negative for COVID-19. Treptau ended up driving an hour away to get a test with next-day results.

When she took a quick test at her job as a clinical supervisor she started asking her coworkers about how she could offer those tests herself. She ended up receiving her certification to perform the tests and decided to use her accumulated PTO to get her testing business up and running.

She opened her doors about a week and a half ago, and as of the time of this reporter’s interview with her (Tuesday evening) she had completed over 240 tests. She said one customer drove an hour and a half in order to be tested.

Going Forward

Treptau hopes to possibly move into a bigger location moving forward. She says there is not a lot of space in the little parking lot outside her storefront. She also would like to find more help, as her niece is the only employee she has at the moment. She would love to bring some fellow medical professionals onto her team.

Testing

In order to receive a test, customers must sign up for an appointment at www.CovidQuickResults.com. The appointments are available at five-minute intervals from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The results are available within 15 minutes, and she says she emails the results to most of her customers, unless they ask for a paper copy. Tests cost $99, and Treptau is not accepting insurance at this time. She said, however, that some insurance companies would reimburse customers for their tests, and some companies were willing to pay for tests for their employees in order to (hopefully) keep them at work.
