The Becker Public Library hosted a Community Art Show reception Thursday afternoon in the library and community center halls.
The show was held in conjunction with the Becker Schools Student Art Show, where over 200 works of art were on display from K-12 kids.
Colleen Austin provided the background music as she strummed the strings of her harp towards the back of the room. Guests were greeted at the door by Director Jeannette Burkhardt and other library workers.
The room was filled with colorful and creative works of art including drawings, watercolor paintings, oil paintings, acrylic paintings, ceramics, sculptures, printmaking, mixed media, photography, graphic design and textiles.
The community art show joined the student art show to recognize established and emerging artists in the Becker community who could showcase their one-of-a-kind talent. In the halls, Tom Sheldon displayed his masterful wood carvings while Susan Dunbar exhibited her ceramic masterpieces. Barb Gulbrandson had numerous items on the tables including watercolor and oil paintings.
Many of the K-12 students who had artwork in the show arrived at the event with parents and family members in tow. Pastor Gerry Bass and his wife, Sarah, arrived with their two young girls — Madison and Faith — to see their outstanding artistry hanging on the walls.
Bob Crane and his wife, Julie, gleamed with pride as they had their daughter, Allison pose with her paper sculpture artwork of a bird.
Heidi Voigt, a senior at Becker High School smiled with delight in front of her acrylic painting titled, “I’m Going Home” — an homage to Vincent VanGogh.
Mini cupcakes in a rainbow of colors was served on a giant artists palette in the middle of the room.
The event was sponsored by the Friends of the Becker Library.
