Hallelujah! What great art!

Over 71 local artists ranging in ages from 0-15 participated in the 2021 Easter Coloring Contest sponsored by our friends at Sherburne State Bank. The “canvas” depicted an Easter bunny holding a palette of paint while decorating an enlarged egg and cross of Jesus Christ. Above the head of the rabbit was a Happy Easter salutation and below was the logo of Sherburne State Bank.

It appeared the youngsters enjoyed breaking out their crayons and markers with an opportunity to color the bunny in a natural color scheme — or, just go wild and paint the long-eared mammal in unexpected hues and pigments. The giant egg was patterned in stripes and waves, giving the little Picassos a chance to be as expressive as they wanted.

Some even used the backdrop to design shapes, colors and patterns to enhance their masterpieces.

The winners of the contest were chosen from the three categories — ages 1-5, 6-10 and 11-15. Staff at Sherburne State Bank were the judges.

The prize winner in the first category went to Bennett Brenny of Clear Lake (age 5). Haley Gleisner (age 9) of Clear Lake won the second category and Lilyana Stuart (age 12) of Becker won the third. Each winner will receive a $15 gift card to area Subways as well as a chocolate Easter bunny “trophy”.

All submissions of artwork for the coloring contest can be viewed in the lobby of Sherburne State Bank through the Easter season.
