A very special benefit took place last Friday night at Becker High School to aid a coach and father who is battling brain cancer.
Brian, known by all as Coach K, was the man being recognized March 9 by his family, friends, co-workers and the dozens of young basketball players he’s influenced over the years. He has been the Becker Bulldog ninth grade boys basketball coach the last five years.
Again, many of Brian’s supporters donned their light blue shirts with a Coach K logo on them saying, “Never Give Up”. Kuseske has had two surgeries to remove a mass in his brain. He has other treatments ensuing and his medical bills are accumulating.
Friday’s event featured a silent auction, raffle prizes, games and a meal. Some of the items donated were: Minnesota Wild hockey tickets, coffee and water mugs from Holiday Gas Station, one night stay at Quality Inn and Suites in St. Cloud, a camp stove from Camp Chef, Snow Helmets and goggles from Giro, autographed prints of Justin Morneau and Karl Anthony Towns and 100+ baskets filled with goodies.
Funds raised at the event were enough to cover over six months of Brian’s regular doctor and hospital bills.
A special thanks to all the organizers, all the volunteers, Becker Basketball, each and every person who donated an item, money, or time or sent well wishes.
For those who couldn't attend the benefit, the opportunity to still donate is available — go to Brian's GoFundMe page at: www.gofundme.com/brians-brain-cancer-helpers.
