The Clearwater Township Board awarded the contract for gravel hauling to Bjorklund Companies at the February monthly meeting.
It was the lowest of three bids.
Bjorklund bid $4.52 per cubic yard to haul approximately 7,000 yards from Annandale Rock Products with five to six belly dump trailers.
Mid-Minnesota Hot Mix bid $5.30 per cubic yard for the same amount of gravel, with an hourly hauling charge for an 18-ton quad axle straight truck at $99 per hour.
Vonn’s trucking did not quote the belly dumps for approximately 7,000 cubic yards of gravel. It’s hourly charges included $88 for tandem & tri-axle, $90 for quad axle and $93 for quint axle.
The board awarded the contract for spreading magnesium chloride on the roads to Central MN Dust Control at $0.86 per gallon
Open Quotes for Chloride. It was the only quote received.
The board awarded the contract for recycling to Randy’s Environmental Services for single-sort recycling effective April 1.
Under the five-year contract, Randy’s will charge $3.80 per household, with a 2.5% increase in years two and four.
Randy’s also offered two other options: a seven-year contract at $3.75 per household with a 2.5% increase in years two, four and six, or a 10-year contract at $3.65 per household with a 2.5% increase in years two, four, six and eight.
Waste Management submitted the other quote: A three year proposal at $3.80 per household with a 2.5% increase in years two and three, or a five year proposal at $3.80 per household with a three percent increase in years two and four.
The board set Clean-up Day for May 18.
The March monthly meeting is Monday. The township’s annual meeting is Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
