A Clearwater man has pleaded guilty in connection to the assault of a 6-month-old boy.

 

According to court records, Cody Edward Anderson pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree assault. 

 

According to the criminal complaint, Waite Park police began investigating in March after the child was examined at St. Cloud Hospital where bilateral subdural hemorrhages were discovered. The child was then airlifted to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis where he underwent an emergency craniotomy.

 

The complaint alleges that prior to being hospitalized, the child was in Anderson's care. He reportedly described how the child had difficulty breathing and had gone limp.

 

According to the complaint, Anderson acknowledged being the child's primary caregiver, and allegedly admitted consuming three-fourths of a bottle of whiskey.

 

The complaint states a board-certified child abuse pediatrician noted the child's injuries were abusive in nature.
