Organized by a group of local volunteers, the recent 25th annual Camp Friendship steak fry broke last year’s record, raising $24,500 for the nonprofit organization True Friends to help support camper scholarships and programs.
Over 425 attendees enjoyed steaks grilled by the Clearwater Lions, who have manned the grill for the event for the past 22 years. Chicken was also available, along with side dishes and dessert.
An Annandale Boy Scout troop bussed the tables and cleared trash during the steak fry.
Along with the meal, the event featured a silent auction, and tickets could be purchased for the grand prizes and the cash raffle. Attendees could also participate in a liquor raffle, which is similar to a meat raffle, in which tickets could be purchased for the chance to win bottles of liquor that had been donated by individuals.
“We are humbled by the support of the local communities who continue to put on such a wonderful event,” said True Friends President and CEO John LeBlanc. “Thank you to the Clearwater Lions, Annandale Boy Scout Troop and all the volunteers who put on this fantastic event.”
Organizers also thanked the individuals and local businesses who donated items for the silent auction.
