Clearview Teams Find Success At Knowledge Bowl

Clearview Elementary fifth-graders had a successful Knowledge Bowl season this year, with one of their teams coming home in the top three at each of their meets.

The elementary school Knowledge Bowl season is short, as its purpose is to give students a chance to try it out. The actual activity is offered full-season in the district’s middle and junior high schools.

Fifteen Clearview fifth-graders signed up to participate this year, competing in three meets and five practice sessions. The students were split into three teams of five; each meet featured different team members.

Led by coach Bernie Manifold, Clearview found success at each of their meets, with one of their teams placing in the top three at each competition. “South side” St. Cloud elementary schools competed against each other.

The first meet, held at Oak Hill Elementary, had Clearview’s Team 2 coming in at third place. The second meet at Talahi Elementary brought home a first place, and the final meet, held at Lincoln Elementary, had Clearview bringing home second place.

Knowledge Bowl is an athletic event for the mind, with teams competing to answer questions in science, astronomy, literature, math, current events, history and a wide array of other subjects. Knowledge Bowl offers opportunities for students to master their team building skills, participate in a competitive test of their academic knowledge and interact with students from other schools.
