Clearview Students Participate In Drug Awareness Poster Contest

Clearview Elementary students in the first through sixth grade recently participated in the Clearwater Lions and Lioness clubs annual drug awareness poster contest.

The students create their posters in art teacher Kathy Gerdts-Senger’s classes. Each student comes up with his or her own anti-drug message and then illustrates that message on their poster. The project gets the students to stop and think about the effects of drugs and why they should avoid them.

The students’ finished posters are brought to the Clearwater Lions and Lioness, who select winners from each classroom based on the students’ message and creativity. Cash prizes are awarded to the winners.

Winners this year include first graders Anabelle C., Trista W. and Gabriela K, second graders Reese L, Alexia W. and Ivette V., third graders Jasmine R., Santiago C. and Esther W., fourth graders Claire S., Elizabeth W. and Andrea G., fifth graders Nora Z., Carolina L. and Jessica O., and sixth graders Amelia C., Jacinta K. and Michael P.

The students’ drug awareness posters are on display at Clearview.
