Clearview Sixth Graders Create Emergency Classroom Buckets

Clearview sixth-graders this week created emergency buckets filled with supplies for each of the school’s classrooms.

The idea was conceived when students and staff became aware that in the event of school lockdowns or other emergencies there were items that would be beneficial to have on hand.

Buckets were donated by the City of St. Cloud, and using part of their school store profit, toilet paper and snacks were purchased to equip them. Class lists were also added.

The buckets were assembled during the first week of school this fall, as the students felt it was important to get them completed as soon as possible in case they were needed.

Sixth grade teacher Patti Clymer explained career choices and development are part of the sixth grade curriculum, so the students talked about assembly lines and experienced how they worked while they put the buckets together.

The sixth-graders filled, labeled, and delivered the buckets to each of the school’s classrooms and other areas such as the gymnasium and nurse’s office.
