Clearview Orchestra Students Hold First Concert

Fifteen budding Clearview Elementary School musicians demonstrated what they’ve learned during their first few months in orchestra with two concerts on Tuesday, one for their fellow students and a second for family and friends.

Consisting of eight violinists, two violists, two cellists and five bassists, the fifth-graders performed 17 musical pieces. Orchestra members also took turns informing the audience about their instruments and demonstrating how they were played.

At one point in the concert, they each choose a member of the audience and taught them how to hold the instruments’ bows.

The fifth-graders began playing their instruments just this past September, and meet once or twice a week with orchestra teacher Aurora Adamson. They will be holding another concert in May to demonstrate how much they’ve learned over the year.

Andrea Priego accompanied the students on piano.
