Clearview Orchestra Holds First Concert Of The Year

Fifth grade orchestra students from Clearview Elementary School performed their first concert last Thursday to a crowd of family and friends.

The 30-member orchestra, which consists of 15 violinists, eight violists, four cellists and three bassists, kicked off the concert with the very first song they learned to play, Pop Goes the Weasel.

Along with performing 17 musical pieces, the orchestra members took turns informing the audience about their instruments and demonstrating how they were played. At one point in the concert, they each chose a member of the audience and taught them how to hold the bows.

The fifth graders began playing their instruments just this past September, and meet once or twice a week with orchestra teacher Aurora Adamson. They will be holding another concert in May to demonstrate how much they learned over the year.
