Spring is in the air and Clearview Elementary students have been celebrating the season with musical concerts.
May 7, the third graders held their choir concert, performing 10 selections for family and friends.
The concert kicked off with Step in Time, followed by a number of selections featuring recorders, and Alabama Gal. Hello to All the Children of the World and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious had select students coming forward to sing sections of the verses.
The concert featured a number of other catchy spring tunes, ending with Paw, Paw Patch.
Two days later it was the fifth-grade orchestra’s moment to shine with their concert featuring 14 selections they’d been working hard to master, which included folk songs and student favorites.
The orchestra began with Salamander Samba and concluded with the theme from “New World” Symphony.
In between, selections highlighted solos by Trinity W., Grace J., Weslie S. Esther W. and Ailee B. In a fun twist, the lights in the gym were turned down for Star Wars Main Title.
Clearview’s fifth-grade orchestra is comprised of eight violinists, two violists, two cellists and five bassists.
Ms. Andrea, Mr. Mario and Mr. McCabe accompanied the students during their numbers.
The school’s spring celebration continued with the second-grade concerts Tuesday and Wednesday. Clearview still has lots happening before classes are out for the year, with their annual senior breakfast on the 21st, Gamelon on the 24th, their variety show on the 29th, and fifth grade graduation on the 31st.
