Clear Lake Twp. welcomes new clerk

The Clear Lake Twp. Board of Supervisors welcomed new township clerk, Nancy Betzler, during their December meeting.

“Nancy has lots of clerking experience,” said Supervisor Gary Gray. “We’re glad to have her on board.”

With the new town hall building and the hiring of Betzler, he announced starting with the new year the town hall will now be open to the public every Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to noon.

Road Report

Twp. Engineer Terrance Vander Eyk approached the board to provide a list of upcoming projected road projects. Already approved by the board are 127th St., 103rd Ave., two sections of 31st Ave., 71st St., and striping.

Projected projects needing board approval include 76th St. turnaround bit surfacing, 103rd Ave. crack rehabilitation, and 67th St. crack rehabilitation. The total cost of approved and projected projects was estimated at $99,025. A motion carried approving all projects.

For informational purposes, Eyk also provided a list of projects that will need to be undertaken at a later date. It was determined the first priority on that list will be setting aside funds for White Farms Estates reclaim and resurface.

Property Line Issue

Tom Eilers approached the board to ask the township’s advice on property line issues. Presenting the board with a map, he explained that years ago he wanted to divide his property up, however the county wouldn’t agree to it. He now wants to split one parcel and add that part to another parcel.

Gray explained the township can send favorable comments to the county regarding his request, but they don’t have zoning authority so can’t actually do anything else.

Eyk suggested he may be able to do an administrative split and then a boundary line adjustment as there wouldn’t be any new parcels created. Possible building issues were discussed, and he recommended Eilers start with a visit to Bogart Pederson.

Solar Farm

Dan Rogers approached the board to introduce his company’s project, Pickeral Garden Solar Farm. Unlike many solar farms, he explained the solar farm will have no hazardous materials in the equipment as they use all silicon based models instead.

Gray said the township was comfortable with the project as long as they meet Sherburne County’s conditions and stated they would send positive comments to the county.

Other Business

Motions carried approving resolutions regarding designating the annual polling place, establishing work weeks and pay periods, and establishing compensation types and rates.

Supervisor Bud Stimmler informed the board there were opportunities for park grants; he and Eyk will review.

Midco’s proposal to bring service to a number of homes in the township was high; the board will wait to see what ARVIG proposed.

It was noted the township’s information in the Patriot’s upcoming 2022 community guide needed to be updated and a photo of the new town hall added.

The sheriff reported 108 calls for service for November, including 52 traffic.

The next Clear Lake Twp. meeting will be Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.
