During Clear Lake Twp.’s election and annual meeting last week, incumbent Supervisor Bud Stimmler, who was running unopposed, retained his seat on the board after receiving all votes cast. Larry Seeley was nominated moderator.
A motion passed approving the 2019 levy at $460,000, signifying a small increase from 2018 which will be left up to the board’s discretion.
Treasurer Paul Goenner gave the treasurer’s report, explaining the 2017 year-end cash balance was $933,00, which included CDs for building the new town hall and the Sherwood Shores road project that will occur within three to five years.
Engineer Terrance Vander Eyk gave the road report. 80th Ave. was regraded and graveled and seal coat projects included Riverwood, 100th Ave. and 86th Ave. 2018 seal coat projects will include 92nd St. and 70th Ave. from 90th St. to Hwy 10. Sherburne Co. is currently bidding bituminous overlays, which includes 97th St. in Clear Lake Twp.
Stimmler gave an update on the new town hall that will be built in the township park. A map of the area was shown, and attendees were informed all necessary legal action has been taken care of and associated costs have been paid, including the survey and plat.
Using the architect’s design created for the planning commission, Stimmler explained the floor plan, which includes a designated area for the Sherburne Co. sheriff.
A motion passed approving the building of a new town hall, the location for a new town hall and allocating $50,000 to be put into the new town hall fund, which is currently at $308,000.
A motion passed approving the addition of $25,000 to the Sherwood Shores road fund, which has an estimated cost of $300,000.
Stimmler gave the park report, explaining updates and an upcoming Eagle Scout project, as well as an update on the history book.
A motion was passed raising the supervisor’s compensation from $100 a meeting to $120, and from a $17 hourly rate to $20.
Other agenda items included designating the Citizen-Tribune as the official newspaper, approving the gopher bounty at $2, confirming clean-up day on May 5 from 7:30 a.m. to noon, and the annual board of appeal and equalization on April 11 at 10 a.m. at the township hall.
The next Clear Lake Twp. annual meeting will be March 12, 2019 at 8 p.m.
