CMP Attachments owner Derek Kent approached the Clear Lake City Council during its meeting Monday night for the one-year review of the business’ IUP (interim use permit).
He informed the council the business has been doing well and four additional employees have been hired. He hopes to expand the company in the nearfuture.
Having no concerns, the council passed a motion reapproving the company’s IUP.
A Hunter Lakes Bluffs development resident approached the council requesting a CUP (conditional use permit) to build an extra garage on his property; it would be 508 sq. ft. over what is allowed by city ordinance.
After beginning to discuss the issue, the council determined all discussions should actually take place during the public hearing, which will be scheduled in the near future.
The council passed Resolution 18-10, Order of Abatement, allowing the city to begin cleanup of burnt furniture remains on a resident’s property. The resident will be billed for costs involved.
Mayor Tim Goenner informed the council the jersey barriers have been installed in the alleyway between Walks on Water and Hwy 24, which was the final step required for the city’s quiet zone. A letter of intent will be sent to the railroad.
Ronnie Juenemann approached the council to inquire about water buildup on the east side of the Clear Lake Twp. Hall. After the reconstruction on Hwy 24 rain is no longer draining from the area.
Public Works Director Dustin Luhning will follow up with MnDOT.
Clerk Kari Mechtel informed the council she has been receiving complaints asking why the city doesn’t have a local brush pile for residents to use.
Goenner and Luhning will look for a suitable location within city borders. If a place cannot be found, the sewer authority will be contacted to request the possibility of one at their plant that could be shared with the City of Clearwater.
Other Business
Bud Stimmler requested and was approved use of city hall for the Clear Lake area history book launch on August 25.
Stimmler suggested when the city is ready to paint the water tower they should consider reaching out to local legions for donations to have the American flag added to it.
The council liked the idea and will keep it under future consideration.
The deputy reported 35 calls for service for June and informed the council Sherburne Co. is adding a new device on Hwy 24 that will show both speeds and traffic counts.
The next Clear Lake City Council meeting will be August 6 at 7 p.m.
