With a short agenda, it was a quick meeting for the Clear Lake City Council Monday night.
Public Works
Public Works Supervisor Dustin Luhning told the council the current Goenner Park sign, which needed to be refinished each year, had begun to rot. A new metal sign had been ordered, which Clerk Kari Mechtel informed them was complete and should last for six to 10 years. The amount of the sign, $891, had not been budgeted for, however, there was money in the park budget to pay for it.
A motion carried approving payment of the replacement sign.
Luhning also informed the council the new seasonal employee had been hired two weeks ago, and funding for the new well had been sent out and they were now waiting to hear the outcome.
Mayor’s Report
Mayor Tim Goenner told the council the letter of intent for the quite zone had been sent out, and construction and signage has been completed that was needed for safety, which helped the city with the quiet zone point system.
Goenner also informed the council the sewer authority had received the grant they’d applied for.
Other Business
A motion passed approving the new fire contract, with Council Member Dale Powers explaining there was a change to the section talking about quorums.
Mechtel informed the council there had been two nuisance complaints; a burning complaint that resulted in a restraining order and a dog bite that the fire department had responded to.
Motions passed approving the 2018 liquor licenses and the 2018 election judges.
There was no sheriff’s report available at the time of the meeting.
The date for the next Clear Lake City Council meeting was undecided as of press time due to the regular scheduled meeting falling during the Fourth of July week.
