Classes To Be In Session President’s Day

Becker Public Schools has announced school calendar changes due to recent winter weather cancellations.

Supt. Stephen Malone issued a public release stating, “four instructional days have been lost due to inclement weather so far this year. As a result, there will be school on Feb. 18 (President’s Day).

Classes were canceled at area schools because of the dangerously cold weather last week, activities and programs were interrupted and school officials began to rework the academic calendar.

After a snow storm in late January, bitter cold with below-zero temperatures put part of the Midwest, including Central Minnesota area in a deep freeze.

According to the National Weather Service, air temperatures in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas last mid-week dipped to minus-26+ degrees, with a wind chill that made it feel like minus-50 degrees.
