The Hornet Class of 2025 graduated from Big Lake High School May 30th.
The class of 2025, their friends, family, and the staff of the school all met in the school’s auditorium to celebrate their last achievement of their high school careers.
After the commencement welcome given by Student of Excellence award winner Gwen Niemela, they had their commencement address, given by Ambassador award winner Allie Cross.
Preceding these speeches was the choir’s performance of “Common Threads” by Andrea Ramsay, directed by Brie Hawkins, and accompanied by Abigail Salmon.
Next, the high school’s Dean of Students, Jacob Klingelhutz, said a few words to commemorate the class on a job well done.
The band followed him up with their performance of “Okeanos” by Jack Bullock, directed by Abbey Keister.
Minda Anderson, the assistant superintendent, stepped up to the podium and recognized the top honor students.
Directly following this, Shallyn Tordeur, the assistant principal, announced the scholarships and acknowledgement of military service. The list of recipients of individual scholarships comprises over 60 names, but a standout was Allie Cross. With over 100 hours in community service, she earned a total of eight scholarships.
After Shallyn’s speech, the class of 2025 received their diplomas from the staff; the principal, Robert Dockendorf, formally recognized the class in his presentation.
Finally, the band played the standard “Fanfare & Recessional” by Charlie Hill as the groups left the auditorium.
Congrats Hornets!
