During their meeting Tuesday night, Clear Lake Twp. Supervisor Gary Gray explained the potential buyer of the township hall had withdrawn his proposal after his architect had inspected the building.
Just that morning, however, he had contacted the township and indicated he was still interested and wanted to get a different builder’s perspective.
“Everything is basically there is he decides to make another proposal,” said Gray. “But just like everything it’s going to take time.”
Fire Contract
Gray informed the board he had attended another fire department meeting that was held to create another draft of the new fire contract.
“It’s not perfect but it’s a huge improvement in the wording and structure,” he said.
He will be attending the January Clear Lake City Council meeting to further discuss the contract.
Road Report
Engineer Terrance Vander Eyk informed the board Sherburne Co. is preparing 2018 bid packages for bituminous and would like to have the township’s overlay plans by the end of the month.
He told the board Nick Anderson is interested in partnering with the township on a sealcoat contract; bids would go out in February.
The board approved partnerships with both parties.
Scout Project
Stimmler informed the board he had met with the Boy Scout concerning the Eagle Scout project he was interested in performing at the township park that he mentioned at last month’s meeting.
He was given three options; (1) To create a new trail, (2) To plant more white pines, and (3) to work at the Clear Lake Cemetery. He chose to plant the trees and move a concrete bench to another location.
Eyk raised concerns with the location Stimmler proposed the trees be planted, explaining they’d been obligated by the county to show where a wastewater management pond could be placed, if needed, when submitting the plat for the new township hall. The spot proposed was near where the trees were to be planted so room would need to be left for it.
The plat they reviewed didn’t show the proposed wastewater management pond; Eyk will check on the issue.
Stimmler told the board the boy scouts were wondering if they could cut branches to use for a fundraiser before the area for the new township hall is bulldozed and burned.
He showed the board a birch branch from the park as an example of what they were thinking and compared it to a nearly identical one sold at Crafts Direct.
The board agreed to discuss the issue further when the time came closer to building.
The possibility of transplanting some of the trees was also discussed.
Other Business
Gray informed the board the water advisory board introduced by Jennifer Gallus from the Minnesota Dept. of Agriculture during their March meeting has been created and will be meeting four to five times a year to promote best practices for area farmers.
Stimmler informed the board 1,500 softcover and 50 hardcover copies of the history book had been ordered. The date of completion is set for early March, in time for the annual meeting.
The board approved the 2018 Bingo permit for Traveler’s Country Club.
The sheriff reported 88 calls for service for November, including 50 traffic violations, four accidents and two damage to property.
The next Clear Lake Twp. meeting will be Jan. 16 at 7 p.m.
