Anyone looking for a unique hoilday gift for someone special should stop in the Clearwater American Legion Sunday.
It’s the seventh annual Clearwater Christmas Central, a shopping event sponsored by the Clearwater Legion Riders.
“We try to get as many local vendors as possible under one roof so you can get all your shopping done in one shot,” says coordinator Audra Pederson. “We have regular crafters and regular venders like Avon, Norwex, Pure Romance and Tupperware.”
Pederson started recruiting vendors two months ago to try to have as many shopping choices as possible. So far, 22 have signed up and there may be more by Sunday.
Shoppers can find things like children’s books, cosmetics, hand embroidered towels, wood crafts, Christmas crafts and jewelry.
But it’s not only about things women like. The “knife guy” will also be there.
That’s Ed Massey, an artist who makes and sells knives. In years past, his table has been surrounded by guys admiring Massey’s hand-made masterpieces.
“He’s amazing,” says Pederson. “One of our Riders brought in deer antlers and he used them to make knife handles.”
“And he’s a veteran,” says Pederson. “He’s the reason we do this.”
Each vendor is charged $30 a table and all the proceeds go to help veterans.
Pederson says she’s been to a lot of craft sales where they charge from $50 to $80 a table, so the vendors are glad to attend the Legion event.
Some of the other vendors who will be selling their products include Tastefully Simple, Scentsy, Younique, Origami Owl, Perfectly Posh, Lularoe and Thirty-One.
They’re all guaranteed to have plenty of shoppers Sunday because the event is coordinated along with the Legion Riders made-to-order breakfast.
“The church groups come in for breakfast and they wonder what’s going on in the back,” says Pederson.
They’ll find out Sunday, and maybe they’ll help out the veterans by buying a Christmas gift.
Christmas Central runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
