The Carl E. Johnson Park officially reopened last week after new playground equipment was installed. The park is located a few blocks north of the fire hall.
An official ribbon cutting ceremony took place last Sunday, with city council and staff members turning out with their kids in tow to break the park in.
Tony Nahrgang, an administrative support specialist for the city, said that the parks department worked very hard to create unique play experiences, including a 60-foot “Glide Along,” a “Cyclone Spinner,” and a 17-foot “Matrix Web” for climbing.
The new equipment was purchased as a part of the city’s Recreation Capital Improvement Plan.
