BRYCE ROELIKE shows his enthusiasm for the generous donation of dozens of potted flowers from the Becker True Value store for his weekend garage sale.

Bryce’s Garage Sale Is An Incredible Success

Bryce’s garage sale was a smashing success!

Last weekend, eight-year-old Bryce Roelike of Becker held a special garage sale for all the people in his life who have been affected by cancer. The proceeds from Bryce’s sale are to be delivered to the local  American Cancer Society Relay for Life fundraising organization.

Bryce took in nearly $1,700, which was immediately matched by D.M. Motors of Clearwater. Though the garage sale is over, Bryce is still reeling in donations from individuals and groups from all over the area and the total he brings in could amount to nearly $6,000.

Bryce’s sale was called “Cancer Sucks: Relay for ‘Love’ Life” and is to honor his grandmother, his mom and his aunt, who have all been affected by the disease.

Bryce’s sale was at his aunt’s home, which happened to be along the route of the Becker Freedom Days parade that Saturday morning. As a tribute, members of the Becker Fire Dept. stopped the parade and congratulated Bryce and his efforts and contributed $50 towards his goal.

Employees of  the area’s Cargill Foodservice Company— who Bryce’s grandmother works for — also made contributions as well as John Riebel of Becker True Value, who donated two pickup loads of beautiful potted flowers to be sold at Bryce’s garage sale.

Bryce’s family also planned to sell baked bread throughout the weekend sale but unfortunately (or fortunately) they sold out of items (54 loaves) the first day. Visitors from as far as Princeton stopped by Bryce’s sale to purchase the baked goods, but instead had to place orders to have the items freshly made this past week.
“People are still calling with requests,” Bryce’s mom, Kelli said.

Bryce — a very quiet and humble young man — wishes to thank all those who supported his cause and he thanks his grandma too for doing all the baking.
Bryce insists he plans to make the garage sale an annual thing.

The Becker Relay for Life event is Friday, July 10 from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Bryce Roelike is the son of Tim and Kelli Martin of Becker.
