Long-serving employee, Ron Brevig announced his retirement as plant director at Sherco Jan. 16, reports Media Realtions Representative Matt Lindstrom of Xcel Energy.
“Ron worked for the company for 37 years in a variety of roles, spending the last decade as the director of Sherco,” Lindstrom said. “We thank him for his decades of service and wish him all the best.”
Brevig started with Xcel in 1980 at the Monticello plant and worked there for 16 years. After leaving Monticello in 1996, the changes came fast and often. He became manager at the Riverside Plant and then moved on to the High Bridge Plant in St. Paul.
At High Bridge, he managed the shut down of the old coal plant that had been put into service back in 1923, and then oversaw the construction of a new plant to take its place on the same property in downtown St. Paul.
Brevig’s area of expertise is operations, but he specialized in permitting of new sites, environmental procedures, and operations during construction before joining the Sherco plant in 2008.
No word yet on who will relace Brevig as the new plant manager.
